Actor Max Gail played Stan Wojciechowicz, pictured here as the frazzled detective on sitcom 'Barney Miller.' In an interview, Gail said that the sitcom's producer named his character after Fordham football star, Alexander Wojciechowicz. (As it turns out, the real Wojciechowicz was a two-time All-American player, and even played in the NFL for the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles!)
